Founded more than a century ago, the Locust Grove Woman’s Club has been a cornerstone of civic engagement, education, and community service in Henry County, Georgia.
Originally called the Locust Grove Civic League, the club held its first major town-wide beautification effort in 1914, rallying women to clean, plant, and improve the public spaces of Locust Grove. In 1917, the group formally joined the Georgia Federation of Women’s Clubs and became known as the Locust Grove Woman’s Club.
Since those early days, the Club has remained dedicated to community improvement. As with many similar organizations, our membership has declined in recent years due to the increasing demands on women’s time. But we are not giving up. We are committed to rebuilding our club to reengage with our community for the greater good. In a fast-paced digital world where many are driven by technology and virtual connections, we believe it’s more important than ever to bring back the human spirit—real, face-to-face connection, compassion, and community service. Volunteering reminds us that kindness still matters, that lending a helping hand can change lives, and that together, we can create a stronger, more caring world.
Will you help us? We are actively looking for new members who are ready to make a difference. Please consider joining our international organization and network of women who are committed to service, friendship, and strengthening their communities. Whether you’re a retiree eager to keep learning, a young professional building your resume, or a parent looking for meaningful ways to involve your family—there’s a place for you here. You’ll make new friends, learn valuable skills, and have fun along the way. Together, we can build a brighter future and bring back the spirit of service that connects us all. Join us and be part of something meaningful.
